“On-The-Spot” Method To Fight Stress

Stress is part of our everyday lives. It’s not possible to completely avoid it. However, there are ways in which you can manage your stress and keep it from disrupting your health.

One of the simplest ways, which is a much ignored way of beating stress, is to focus on deep breathing.

Deep breathing is simple, easy and can be practiced by anyone without much effort or needing any equipment. It’s the best way to relax even while you’re at work. Since it’s an automatic bodily function, many don’t think it would help beat your stress. However many studies have proved that it does.

Deep breathing is easy, but requires some practice. It needs to be done slowly and steadily and you need to breathe from the diaphragm. Controlling your breathing will take you some time till you can start doing it involuntarily. Try by doing it once every day.

You can start by placing your hands on your stomach and chest and monitor your breathing. Ensure that the hand on your stomach rises more than the hand on your chest while inhaling. Continue too inhale and hold for about seven counts.

Exhale through your mouth once you’re done counting seven and release your breath gently contracting your belly muscles. This would ensure that all the air from your lungs is expelled out.

To exhale completely do it slowly and gradually over eight counts. This should ensure that all the air from your lungs is expelled out.

Complete the whole cycle of inhaling and exhaling at least four times. Keep your thoughts and emotions positive while you’re doing it or you could say a positive word while inhaling and a negative one while exhaling. This would help you enhance your relaxation and calm you mind and keep it stress free.

How can yoga help me with my depression?

Question by gisela312: How can yoga help me with my depression?
Hello everyone, I want to try Yoga for the first time. I’m seriously out of shape, having lots of muscle aches and I’m suffering from severe depression. I’ve hear the many great benefits from Yoga; I don’t know where to start. What beginners DVD would you recommend for me?

Best answer:

Answer by Juli Fitz
By saying you are out of shape, I’m taking a guess that you might be a little overweight (although those aren’t always synonymous). If that is the case, I would recommend anything by Megan Garcia. She has a book titled “MegaYoga” and I think her DVD is “Just My Size” or it’s been repackaged as “MegaYoga”. Anyway, she’s studied at Kripalu, is a plus-size model, and has modifications to traditional poses that are a little difficult for beginners to do. I’m about her size and found her material to be great when I started yoga a few years ago. Rodney Yee has some good DVD’s as well. He’s pretty much the “guru of yoga” and a great teacher, but his work can be a little intimidating to those totally new to yoga. You might want to check amazon.com for reviews of any suggested yoga DVD’s. That way, you can get a more balanced view prior to purchasing!

The Seven Chakra System

The human body consists of seven major chakras and many less-important small ones. The chakras are centers of energy, points of flow of energy and behave like energy joint in the body. Every aspect of our emotional, bodily, spiritual life and mental life is possible because of the energetic operations in these chakras. Each of the seven major chakras corresponds to a unique aspect of our being and has its own character.

Our body’s spiritual, mental and emotional life is realized because of the energetic operations occurring in these chakras. The seven major chakras have their own character and each corresponds to a unique portion of our being. Our very being is processed by the chakra system. There is a possibility of disorders in the mind, spirit or body due to any sort of energetic dysfunction in the chakras. Again due a defect in the energy flow because of any chakra can lead to imperfection in the energy offered to some body parts. Energy filed is a holistic being. Any part of the field of energy field influences every other part due to which imperfection arises.

Chakras are not objects which are situated in the precise locations of the body. To practice healing or to carry out healing process we place the hands on these chakras. Out of the seven chakras, five chakras are situated along the spine and two are on the head.

Each chakra has an intrinsic color which is the true color of the visible light spectrum associated with it. Each chakra has a front component and a rear component and these are closely connected.

There is a front component and a rear component of the chakras which are closely connected. The seventh chakra gets extended upright upwards above the head. Extending forwards from the bottom of the spine and downwards, at about a 45 degree angle is the first chakra. Between the first and the seventh chakras, the other five chakra’s are spaced.

When channelization of energy takes place the healer of energy receives the energy through his own chakra system from the Earth and from all around which also acts as a conductor. There is circulation of energy in the entire universe which gets conducted through the Earth and atmosphere and into the body of the healer. A greater quantity of energy is received when you call it so that so that it may be passed on through your hands to the patient.

Initially when you begin extra energy is received through your first and seventh chakras and eventually when practice is gained energy is received equally through all your chakras.

From lower to higher energy levels an upward flow of energy in the body takes place. The lower chakras are the simpler functioning ones. A more sophisticated and spiritual execution happens with upward ascend.

With practice you gain proficiency and channelization of energy increases. You gain awareness of some sense of the unique nature of each chakra and in the condition of each chakra in your patients. More advanced techniques are learnt at later stages which are at levels of Chios healing. You do this for expansion of your awareness, to gain understanding of condition of the patient and for treating the chakra system of the patient.

Yoga And Pilates: Which One Do You Prefer?

Although apparently there can be several women’s exercises to be chosen from these days, these two are by far the most famous of them all. Mostly gaining reputation from the celebs that does them, yoga and Pilates has become at one point, the most commonly used trainings by the feminine side especially in the United States.

Though many believe they have more likeness than distinction, in reality, these two exercises have so much of a difference it can make or break your decision (if you have already made one). It’s about time to compare the two.

Definition

Yoga – The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit root word “yuj” meaning “to unite” or “to integrate”. Yoga therefore, is the process of being in a harmonious relationship with the inner self and the environment. To do this, the “yogi” (the individual who executes the yoga) balances his intelligence, physique, and soul in the form of exercise, breathing, and meditation bringing about a stress-free and peaceful body and mind.

Pilates – Coined after its founder, Joseph H. Pilates, “Pilates” is the kind of training that concentrates on core conditioning and body shaping through the use of a mind-body strategy. Simply put, Pilates functions using the mental aspect to master the physical motions of the person doing it. Subsequently, practitioners acquire flexibility, agility, and gracefulness towards moving their own body.

Background

Yoga – Dating back to over 5000 years ago, yoga is an ancient form of discipline that originated from India. The earliest remains of yoga being in existence include the stone seals unearthed from the Indus Valleys which illustrated yoga positions.

Pilates – Developed in the early twentieth century by a self-defense teacher, Joseph Pilates strongly believed that exercise could treat diseases. With this perception he modified hospital beds to make his patients perform resistance activities that later on resulted in his more effective equipment designs. He then lived in the United States and opened his very own fitness studio and trained many students his system.

Approach

Yoga – Mind-body-spirit approach. Yoga is centered on these three main structures, intellect, which controls the movement of the entire body for it to perform exercises coupled with proper breathing to prepare the mind for meditation (relaxed state of mind) so a person can be relieved of stress and will be cleansed with nothing but positive energy.

Pilates – Mind-body approach. As previously mentioned, Pilates utilizes the mind to have power over the body thus resulting to a more effective and economical movement.

Practice

Yoga – Utilizes a yoga mat. This particular exercise can be done in groups, commonly in a yoga class with the help of a qualified yoga trainer. It’s generally inexpensive in terms of the usage of apparatus.

Pilates – Makes use of biomechanically designed equipment. To name some: reformers, barrels, Cadillacs, stability chairs, and matwork equipment such as pilates mats and pilates edge.

And, there you have it. It is important to take time to learn the facts about yoga and Pilates exercises before ultimately deciding on which one to choose. This will enable you to determine which one suits your lifestyle best, among others – and when you finally do, make sure to have all the fun in the world doing it.

Is It Easy To Learn Chakra Meditation?

It takes longer to perform charka meditation in comparison to perform other meditation methods. There are a total of 7 chakras and it may take up to 2 hours for a total workout. Let us first understand the seven chakras in our body, their locations and colors for complete understanding.

For your stability, balance and safety is the root chakra which positioned at the base of the spine. Located at the lower abdomen is the sacral chakra which is located for enthusiasm, sexuality and psychic abilities and abilities for higher consciousness. This chakra is of orange color. For our will power and impulse actions is the solar plexus chakra which is positioned just under the chest. Color of this chakra is yellow.

Heart is the center for unconditional love and compassion and is situated in the chest. Color of heart chakra is green. Throat is the place where the ability to express ourselves verbally and our communication abilities are situated. It is situated below the head on the throat and the color of this chakra is sky blue. Third Eye has the ability to see beyond the physical world and is our window to the spiritual world. It is located on the forehead and the color of this chakra is indigo. Crown is the straight channel to higher consciousness, is located on top of the head and the color of this chakra is violet.

One or chakras can be focused on with Chakra meditation and it helps us to get more consciousness and awareness in life. Chakra meditation supports in facilitation of rebalancing the fields of energy. A comfortable position is recommended to start chakra meditation. After a comfortable position relax yourself by taking deep breath and close your eyes slowly.

For chakra meditation two types of approaches can be followed. Either you can see the colors linked with chakra spots or imagine your energy being balanced in the chakra spots in your body. Chakra meditation can be started by imagining a red ball expanding in strength and size when you breathe in and out.

When you are focusing on the color of the chakra, your rate of coming out of it must be slowed down, with the brightness of the color remaining unaffected. Once chakra meditation is done you must permit your body to come to this conscious world gradually.

Chakra meditation supports you to learn to open your closed chakras and to embrace the world and feel safe. All the seven chakras are associated with different skills and personality and so if anyone is closed, chakras will get imbalanced and disharmony will prevail. Chakra meditation helps you to regain your peace of mind and confidence.

Focus should be on the colors of the chakra when you practice chakra meditation. You will for sure regain your confidence as well as your peace of mind. Chakra meditation will help you open your closed chakras and do this meditation in an environment which is calm and serene.
