Yoga ?? for the ones that are doing it now?
OK I am starting yoga, and I am wondering about something.. I have a good amount of weight to lose I do an exercise program as well as eating right to lose it slowly and gradually to keep it off.. Now my ?? is, is that I wanted to start yoga to become more flixible.. Does that mean that yoga also helps with skin elasticity.??? I am wondering cause of the fact that my biggest fear is getting saggy skin, soo I am trying to find all the things u can do while losing to try the hardest to keep from getting loose skin.. Just to give some back ground cause u guys normally state the obvious.. I am 22 I have a little more than a Hundred pounds to get to where I need to be… i am 5 9… Soo again the main ?? here is, can yoga help with skin to make it more elastic……???? I hope soo… lol….

Hi Hon,
Yoga will help with it as much as it can. It stimulates blood flow to the smaller capillaries, including those in the surface of the skin. Making sure you are breathing correctly is most important in yoga, as it carries the oxygen to the muscles and areas that usually don’t get much, and it also helps to “squeeze” out areas that contain stale blood, providing fresh blood and oxygen to the areas. Twisting poses do this most effectively, but all are beneficial.
As for having saggy skin, you will have some in your weight loss, as the skin is slower to recover than the muscles and the rest of the body as you lose weight. Don’t despair, keep up the exercise and the yoga and it will eventually become firmer, it will just take a long time.

In its simplest form, pranayama involves deep, full breathing. Dharana – Following on from pratyahara, dharana is the ability to be completely internally absorbed and focused. This practice of single-pointed concentration stills the mind and leads to profound quietness within. Dhyana – Following on from dharana is dhyana, or meditation – sitting where there is no focus, just stillness; no thoughts, only emptiness. Samadhi – In this state of absolute personal freedom there is union of the individual soul with the universal soul. It is the practice of living at one with all that is.

Reetone: Does The Reebok Easytone Actually Work?

Sports giants Reebok have claimed that their Reebok Easytone trainers can improve the tone of your hamstrings, calves and bum by nearly 30% more than regular trainers just by walking. They claim the trainers can “train muscles your trainers never knew you had.”

They seem too good to be true; you can exercise the same amount or simply walk around and your legs and behind get a workout that would usually take hours a day at the gym. But do they actually work or is this all just some marketing campaign? A team of scientists with backgrounds in exercise, sport and physiology at the University of Wisconsin conducted a study to test the claims on each of the shoes.

Heading up the test was John Porcari PhD who agrees that in theory the trainers should work the muscles harder because it creates instability that the body attempts to counteract. The shoes are based on a curved sole which creates an unstable surface which forces the wearer’s body to constantly struggle to find equilibrium.

The team tested the Reetone range on a group of females aged between 19 and 24. The subjects were tested through exercise trials and measured by muscle activation, heart rate and caloric expenditure.

The second group, aged 21 to 27 also went through similar tests and both groups were tested with regular trainers to compare. The initial results were not impressive, using the Reetone trainers did not increase caloric expenditure or heart rate, and the only effects were aching of the muscles.

The group did however survey users of the shoes over a period of several months and found that the general consensus was an overall toning of the legs and bum. What the team failed to determine was whether the toning was entirely due to the trainers or just down to people walking more to get their value for money out of the trainers.

The Reebok Easytone campaign has promoted the Easytone trainers by emphasising the positive effects on the toning and shaping of women’s legs and bums.
